Delete your account

This page explains how to delete your account in Balloon Journey Japan (developed and operated by UNVELL Inc.) along with the data linked to it. You can do it yourself in the app, right away. If you can't open the app, you can ask us from this page.

In the app

1. Open the ≡ menu and choose the Account tab.
2. At the bottom, under “Ending your journey”, tap Delete account.
3. Check the list of what will be removed, tap Delete, then Really delete.

Tap “Really delete” while you are online and your account is removed from our servers on the spot. Afterwards you can start again from the sign-up screen.

If you can't open the app

If you kept your transfer code

Reinstall the app, choose Move from another device on the sign-up screen and pick your five words — your balloon comes back. Then follow the steps above.

Ask us to delete it

Use the contact form, choose Account deletion as the subject, and include one of the following:

• Your transfer code (the five words). With it we can find your balloon for certain.
• If you don't have the code: your balloon's name, roughly when you started, and roughly where your balloon last was.

Once we have confirmed the balloon is yours, we delete it within 30 days of your request and let you know by email.

What is deleted

• Your balloon (its name and pattern) and the journey it is on
• Everywhere you have been
• The badges and records you collected, and your missions
• Your ties to other balloons (greetings sent and received, and the like)
• Your player name and transfer code
• Notification tokens (section 6 of the privacy policy)
• Feedback survey answers (section 5)

Deletion is permanent. None of it can be restored.

What is kept

• Anonymous play statistics. They carry only a number the device made for itself and are not linked to your account. Not even our server can tell which records are yours, so there is nothing there for us to pick out and delete (section 3 of the privacy policy).
• Backups. We back up the server's data every day in case something fails. Deleted data rotates out of those backups and is gone everywhere within 30 days of deletion.

What this website holds

Messages sent through the contact form and mailing-list sign-ups are kept apart from your game account. To have them deleted, write to us through the same form. You can leave the mailing list at any time from the unsubscribe link in every email.
